Summary:
The Norepinephrine (Research) ELISA is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of norepinephrine in Biological Fluids and Tissue Homogenate using sample volumes between 1-100 ul, depending on sample type and expected concentrations. Norepinephrine, epinephrine and dopamine are members of the catecholamine family and act as hormones and neurotransmitters throughout the body. Along with epinephrine, norepinephrine is involved with the response to chronic and acute stress, often termed the ""fight or flight response."" Release of norepinephrine contributes to an increase in heart rate, the release of stored fuels such as fatty acids and glucose for use as energy and vascoconstriction in the peripheral arteries."
