The Role of Bile Acids in Inflammation
Presented by: Evelyn Zöhrer, PhD; Medical University of Graz
Bile acids act as emulsifiers and promote the absorption of lipids. In addition to the facilitation of digestion, bile acids are now being recognized as key players in the regulation of a myriad of metabolic processes. As such, the role of bile acids continues to be investigated in the context of health problems such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
In this webinar, Dr. Evelyn Zöhrer from the Medical University of Graz provides an overview of bile acids with a specific focus on their role in inflammation. She also discusses current methodologies available for the measurement of bile acids.
